The primordial language is spoken by the Primordials and the elementals. The two most common scriptings for these languages are Dwarvish and Barazhad. Creatures that speak different dialects of the same language can communicate perfectly with each other. The Primordial language is categorized into five different languages namely;
Abyssal
Abyssal is a primordial language that is written based on the Infernal language script. The language has been modified and twisted by the evil of the abyss and is spoken by demons and chaotic evil outsiders. It is a bastardized version of primordial and is a chaotic language that may be unpredictable and sound like random noises to those not familiar with it.
Aquan
Aqua from Middle English is borrowed from the Latin Aqua which translates to the compound of water. Therefore, Aquan the language of water-based creatures, like water elementals are derived from the word Aqua. In DND 3e, Aquan was the language of the water elementals. However, with the combination of several languages in the fourth edition, all elementals now speak Primordial.
Auran
Auran, a primordial dialect was a breathy language that has been described as a slow exhaling of air. It was the language of the Elemental Plane of Air.
Ignan
Earlier in this article, we have established that the scriptings of the 5 Primordial dialects are Dwarvish and Barazhad. Irrespective of the fact that Ignan is a derivative of the primordial language, Ignan does not utilize the Barazhad runic system. Rather, it uses the Draconic runic system. Ignan is the language of fire-based creatures like fire elementals.
