We talked about the Greater Restoration in our previous post. The Greater restoration is one of the most sought-after spells in the Dungeons and Dragons games 5e. Everyone needs some form of healing restoration during/after combat. So the Greater restoration confers positive energy to undo a debilitating effect on that creature.
That’s not all; it can also reduce the target exhaustion level by one or end one of the following effects on the target creature. One effect that charmed or made the target to be fearful, One curse including the target’s attunement to a cursed magic item, Any reduction to one of the target’s ability scores, and One effect that reduces the target’s maximum hit point.
In this article, we will be discussing the Lesser Restoration and how you can use it like a professional. Let’s dive in!
What is Lesser Restoration?
No creature has it all figured out. Nobody has a perfect elixir for it either. Diseases are everywhere and nobody knows who will be hit by them. This is why you need a Lesser restoration. A spell that will give you relief and cure you of diseases instantly. Yes, we all need that spell in our spell list. There are only a few spells that can accomplish this effect, fortunately for you, the lesser restoration is one such spell. Lesser restoration has a high in the sense that even if the disease is not uncommon in your game, it can still cure certain conditions that you can suffer from such as poison.
You touch a creature and can end either one disease or one condition afflicting it. The condition can be Blinded, Deafened, Paralyzed, or Poisoned.

How to use the Lesser Restoration Spell
The Lesser restoration spell is a second-level abjuration spell. When you fulfill the spell caster requirements of the game, then you are eligible to use the spell. But how can you use the spell? This is what you will learn here.
As we mentioned before, the range of the Lesser restoration is touch. This is the basic. If you cannot touch the target, then you cannot heal them. As simple as that and there are no two ways about it.
When you touch the target, an essence leaves your body for the target’s body. This essence begins to fester inside of their body bringing about restoration.
The disease that you can cure with Lesser Restoration depends on your GM. Some DMs may have a strict rule which will limit you to curing only diseases that are not present at birth. However, some DM is very progressive and will allow you to cure congenital diseases. Generally, Lesser restoration can cure Bluerot, Flesh Rot, Slimy Doom, Mad Monkey Fever, Cackle Fever, Seizure, etc.
Nevertheless, any of these four conditions can be cured by the Lesser restoration spell. The four conditions which the target is suffering instead of the disease that can be cured by this spell are listed as follows
- Blindness
- Deafness
- Paralysis
- Poison
Can Lesser Restoration Cure Lycanthropy?
No. It cannot be overemphasized what the Lesser Restoration is capable of curing and what it cannot. It can only cure diseases. However, Lycanthropy in DND is not a disease but a curse and it cannot be cured by the Lesser Restoration. To cure Lycanthropy, you will need a stronger spell-like Greater Restoration.
