DRAGONBORN 5E

You must have guessed, are they born of Dragons? You’re right on this one. Dragonborn just as the name suggests is born of dragons. For the most part, we all are fascinated by Dragons. We observe with great awe and appreciation for their strength, their usage as agents of mass destruction, their intelligence and knowledge of history, and sometimes their humility. Yes, Humility. You read right.  Many have found it difficult to gulp in the fact that Dragonborn can ever be humble to anybody or anything. Sadly, as unbelievable as it may sound, they really are sometimes are a humble race, especially to the Dragon Lords.

Shaped by Dragons or Draconic gods, Dragonborn originally hatched from the eggs of Dragons. Theirs is a unique race, possessing the characteristics of Dragons and humanoid creatures.

Appearance

Apart from the fact that they are wingless and have no tail, Dragonborn is similar to dragons in appearance standing erect in humanoid form. They are tall and strongly built, often standing close to about 7 feet tall and weighing 300 pounds or more. Their hands and feet are strong, talonlike claws with three fingers and a thumb on each hand. The first Dragonborn are known to have scales with elegant colours that matched their dragon Kin. However, mutation and nature have done their work as a result of interbreeding. This gave rise to a more generic and uniform appearance.

Dragonborn  Clans

Dragonborn live in a close-knit community where the Clan is sacred. They value the clan more than anything because they have come to understand that unity is paramount. They have a great kindred spirit and they seek to honour their clan in whatever way they could.

Just like the saying, To whom much is given, much is expected. Since nature has so endowed Dragonborns with such unparalleled attributes, they have this phobia for failure and seek to push themselves rather too much so that they can achieve whatever task they put their mind to. Nevertheless, inasmuch as they seek self-sufficiency, they recognize that asking for help is vital and a strength.

Dragonborn

Growth

Young Dragonborn has a very rapid growth rate. They grow much faster than other races reaching maturity at a tender age. Dragonborn nurse their young several months until they develop their dentition. A Dragonborn starts eating soft food until they are matured enough to take the proper food. Dragonborn are considered mature at age of 12 and by the age of 15, they are considered adults. Some Dragonborn develops a breath weapon during their formative years while others don’t. Their lifespan is similar to that of humans.

Abilities

Dragonborn had a number of abilities that set them apart. Dragonborn was both stronger and more charismatic than the typical humanoid, traits inherited from their draconic relatives. Dragonborn was also quite durable and when injured had an inner strength that could push them to accomplish even more than when they were at their best. Dragonborn also healed more easily than other humanoids. Most potent of all was a Dragonborn’s breath weapon, which, like that of a dragon, varied in nature, depending on a Dragonborn’s draconic heritage. However, unlike with dragons, the skin colour of a Dragonborn did not vary depending on its breath weapon. Dragonborn also had a natural resistance to the same kind of energy as their breath weapons.

Some Dragonborn had additional abilities. For instance, while most Dragonborn had vision comparable with humans, a number had enhanced vision more similar to that of an elf or eladrin. Other Dragonborn could modify their dragon breath, acquiring two or more other damage types. Others learned to even mix one or more elements together to create a composite breath weapon. Some Dragonborn learned how to unleash their zeal, which gave gravely injured Dragonborn the resolve to get back on their feet and keep fighting for a little longer.
